There is always a moment in every working day that I find myself in one place with so many lawyers. It is in buses from town.Route 7C.They are always clad in suits.Another amazing thing is that they are mainly young people. There will always be one person on phone, talking to the 'client'.The law jargon always reminds me of my campus Lecturer Ms Carol Nderi. She taught us company law.Well, let me not delve to how she was,my course mates can speak for me..hehe.But one thing am sure is that she had zero chills.
There is something I have noticed older folks will tell the bus
conductor they are headed to 'Community',while younger ones will say
'upperhill.'It's the same place.I have never gathered enough courage
especially in the morning to say am going to community. It sounds as
'wozapp',just as our parents pronounce whatsapp. It sounds strange
right?.
There is always that one person in the office with peculiar characteristics. It's either the noisy one, quiet one, late one and those in love with food.I will talk of the later. There is this mama in our office..she eats..eats..eats.Even repeating that word thrice doesn't put enough emphasis to what she does. She carries food to the office. You would confuse her for a food vendor.Despite this you have to work with such people because teamwork is key.
When the clock ticks away and it's 5pm where you are at liberty to head home but the sun lately has been so unforgiving..it's feet-subishi time. You get to the lift and someone presses a basement floor...in your mind you know you dont have their company through Uhuru park. Those headed to the basement have vehicles.Wait, the road through Uhuru park has plenty of company,so does the one via Haile Selasie Avenue.People throng the streets.
Come to think of it,the number of people increase as you near town. The area around National archives always resembles a school parade.
Busy as the town is it consists people who are satisfied, those anxious, those worried, let not the speed not cheat you.Nairobi has embraced all, when we go back home is when we remember wait...so I forgot to buy a matchbox despite having done the entire shopping at the supermarket. That matchbox story is my unspoken actually.I only remember it when I want to boil something..no but I cook.
I shared all this to remind ourselves to be kind to others, you don't really know what the other person is going though. You may be that person that will give someone that little hope they need to face the next minute.C'mon compliment someone, help someone..say sorry, thank you. These are priceless treasures that you don't need a bank loan to have. You are that hope, spread the love.
Before I put the final fullstop I take this auspicious moment to wish you a happy belated International Women's day kama wewe ni m-sister mdogo ama mkubwa and you reading this and for the dudes it's 123 Ahoo.
