Ever imagined running at that speed Usain Bolt does.Yesterday we were at Ololua Nature Trail for a retreat with these young people who believe we have so much potential to do great things financially. We were given directions and a map.The guide who was giving the directions didn't accompany us.He stood in front of us as he gave us directions, so his right was our left.He instructed us to make only right turns, well that mearnt it was left.
We managed to make it to the picnic sight. It was lunch time,we hastily started subtructing the snacks after a short prayer.
We had this lady called Chirchir..,we had always accused her of not being interested in wining gold.At this point it was clear that running was one of the games we couldn't avoid. We argued how each one us thought they could win,not one but several races(short races) as we would on some occassion throw in the word 'defending champion'.The races were short, like 50metres or less.It was all fun.We are young. The picnic site was not designed ideally for races. It had some murram partly on the 'track' we were using. The last race was a relay kind of thing. We had sticks for batons.Because am Wawaya I had refused to take part in the previous race on the pretext of being the overseeing official. These races we all won..hehe.I was convinced to participate ,no,compete in the last race.I was among the ones receiving the baton to finish the race.Slightly midway after receiving the stick as I was overtaking the guy in front of,I tripped and fell.Am 6ft tall...hehe,so it wasn't a small fall. The weight and the speed. There was even a cloud of dust.It happened so fast.My jeans trouser partly achieved its 'unfinished' fashion at the right knee. The right knee was bruised slightly(read like a dettol mum.hehe, ofcourse it wasn't slightly). My left elbow was bruised too,and other places. We had not carried any fast aid kits.
It amazing how guys reacted differently. For men ''hii ni kitu kidogo'',That's how men are raised.I too didn't see a big thing.Ladies were so syymphathetic...as if i fell from a plane. There emerged a 'doctor' who knew herbs that could help. There was a nurse too.I few minutes I was abit better and the day was awesome. The very funny thing is that the pain was waiting till sleeping time. This is why I missed church today,I had to catch up on tv for 'Sitting room chapel' for my sunday service before Kenya power could rudely interupt with a blackout.
Well, one thing am thankful is that I didn't injure my head.In other matters I don't know why I ate so many bananas, maybe that's why my race turned slippery.
Splendid week ya'll
