Hey it's been a while since I posted neighbours, glad am
back.It was a season of reflection. So much has happened,so much has
remained the same.Well,I changed workplaces, when I sit in the office I
clearly see the words 'Radisson Blu' on my far right,I have never been
there.I feel as if it giggles at me.When lunch time approaches we just
walk across the road to 'Odwadu hotel'..hehe,there you are called
'boss'.Wawaya can fake up to four accents....lately the kisii one has
stuck on me(temporarily). With the hotel name you can guess definately a
person from Kisumu has a hand in the naming. There is a certain guy
there,a chef he has the 'Odwadu' accent,he's the one who prepares
chicken tikka. We chat alot with him alot."Tunataka kifua'',that's what
we normally tell him.Men and kifua(ya kuku)...lol.I don't know why.It
amazing this is the very place we enjoy our meals,we don't take selfies
there..we take food.I only eat ugali because it comes with chicken. My
friends refer to me as 'mluhya mchinku' because my love for ugali is at
some low percentage.
We also go for lunch at A.C.K,it has some fresh food under a great environment. We refer to it as Naivasha. The funny bit about life is that we at times wait for 'those moments'..yes like going to the Southern sun,at the Mayfair hotel...I was here last Friday attending a friend's graduation. The food is good but..well,the cutlery 2458 forks, spoons etc..kwani are they the ones eating the food hehe..I missed Odwadu. We always' check in'on facebook at Intercon, but at Odwadu we sneak in.It feels good saying thank you to anywhere am served be it the local shopkeeper.
We are human first, then other things and titles come in later.I enjoy being Kenyan, necessarily without politics,we are family. There are those who run, there are those who run with the ball(rugby) and many other things I learnt in school(demand and supply)..like changing business from selling eggs to selling umbrellas when the first drop of rain hits the ground.I think some hawkers should be given honorary degrees, why?,whenever there is a graduation event anywhere you will see hawkers arriving earlier than anyone else and setting up,sellings pins, mushaino and all kinds of stuff. This is pretty much of what we learnt in economics about types of markets.
In other matters,I now have a Nigerian neighbour,he keeps inviting me to their church,I ain't sure yet when I will ever visit .That said this guy is one of those people Kenyans refer to with a phrase such as 'hawapendi ujinga'..hehe.Last week we had an electric fault in our plot which made us stay without power for two days,to worsen the situation there was a water problem too.My Nigerian friend had given the plot management timelines and threatened to move if they didn't beat the deadline. It worked, and we are here enjoying these resources..hehe,let say we have our 'Boniface Mwangi' in him to defend us.Some of us just notify the management and wait for their intervention. We leave and continue smiling at life, probably because we've chosen our battles well. Our 'soldier' is a Rwandesse..imagine he isn't a lunje nor maasai nor kamba..I have only one thing against Rwandesse watchmen(he's a second one),them and their phones...they are one thing..they talk for hours,I enjoy listening to them..it's bantu you know.
Our cat, which cat..we have two new cats around with ugly sounds,in fact they disappoint me with how they sound at night, just like some of you are disappointed with 'Tiga wana' gospel song. That said our zone is still a 'rat free' zone. This is a blessing, there are plots you have to give way for rats to cross the staircase,it's a kinda 'zebra(rats) crossing'.
Wonderful wednesday ya'all
