So yesterday evening after an event(stick here you will
know which event it was)I was chatting with mama Charity. She was doing
other chores, women multitask right...I was a also multitasking sitting
and listening, replying to.This is how the conversation started''haya
wewe uliachwa tu hapa?''She asked.''Hapana,nangoja Blaise(her
son),turidishe hizi machine church''.He was to drop somebody at Kiambu
and I was waiting for him to come back.I extended the conversation,''we
appreciate being hosted here,it's a nice place''.You are welcome''she
started''it's always very quiet,sometimes too quiet''."But that's
good, you can listen to the birds sing''I added.''That's what we
do'',she started,''and where do you stay?(bachelors stay not
live..hehe).''I stay at Zimmerman'',I replied.She quickly noted''Yea,we
also lived there for fourteen years''. Ladies, heard that?,hehe..you
wanna live in Thindigua, date a Zimmerman guy...lol.It hit me that people
start somewhere. She told me they lived near the road and they would
listen to vehicles passing,it was noisy.
That was a nice conversation, wasn't it.Am glad it was the mother of the home,a woman...women have the details, they don't rush to say how much it costed, they say how comfortable the home is.That's lovely.I overheard baba Charity talking about the water tank, that it was big..really?,men..are we this thirsty?.Another man asked''And with all this water, you are not doing irrigation?''.That's why I will marry,to get good advice and someone to appreciate better things. You dudes ya'll will say I cook well because you are starving like me,hehe, and if you don't say that of my food I will boil water and ask you if you take choccu or tea bags..then send you to buy chapo mwitu,hehe..then you will continue being skinny and single.Where were we with my story?,fellow skinny peoples,Let me make peace first before we take another lane in this whole narrative.I wish to reassure 'my skinny dudes' that the above threats will not be executed..don't fear visiting..tea and not just bread but Ensvalley wholemeal sweet bread will be served, with jam, blue band or brawn.Thank you.
Swiftly changing lanes, basically yesterday was Charity's graduation thanksgiving. She graduated last week at USIU-Africa.She's from our church, she's beautiful, she's intelligent.I've seen her severally in church but we've never interracted much. She called me the other week,''Hi Wawire,am Charity from Deliverance church Zimmerman,I was given your number by Newton Mwithi,he asked me to request you if you will be available on 27th,which is on a saturday to help us with setting up sound at my graduation thanksgiving event''.First things first,I was in the office,well..the first thing I noted was the entire communication, organized,,the name(her name),Newton's name and request,dates..I confirmed on the calender, the Saturday was not booked. With just a phone call I can tell what kind of a person one is.Polite,organized.I confirmed.Serving in a sound team needs proper organization to make the event successful. Finally I made it to be there,I missed few minutes to be late, but I could see the relief on her face. Then she had not informed me to carry a laptop and some music, but as a sound tech..that's always part of me.After saying hi,she was like''Just tell me you have music!''.Who misses such superman moments.I was like'' Yea,most definitely. She sighed."Thank you'',she said,it was such such a restful answer she got.The event went on well.
In every graduation party, there is always a story,a story of victory, conquest,a story of hope.Your parents' faces will have the most honest and grateful smile.Their words will always come from deep within their hearts.I saw and talked to both of Charity's parents and they were really happy.I was happy. Each time I serve in the sound department I do it from my heart.Am glad so many people appreciate. The bible says anything you lay on your hands to do,do it as unto God.
This is how I joined the sound team, back in the C.U in Kenyatta university, through one Evans Onyango. When I joined C.U I was to be just a Sunday guy and I go on with life.I used to sit even in the overflow(read:outside),because I was always late for service. One day they announced that sound team was registering new guys,I never even paid attention to any of those.I had known Evans from class..we did the same course. He wanted to join sound team. After church we met and he was like ''I want to serve there'',Luos and English,I went with him.I had zero interest. After writing his name,he wrote mine too. That was 'mbio za sakafuni moment'.I felt peaceful about it,the team became family.Did I say there I discovered there was chai ya sound team?,God knew where I serve in advance and he put tea hapo. Here is where lunjes would say 'Mungu wa Wawire'.
In perspective God knows whatever we need, when we follow and obey Him without conditions we realize He had all setup.Evans Onyango aka 'kaka changu'thanks for be used to bring me to this ministry.
Then after campus,I said yes am off the hook, nobody in my home church will register by force,I will serve randomly. Thanks God for friends.A friend knew I love doing 'story za sound'.He gave me the task in his event, then guess another 'boiz wangu' aka Newton is there, sound guys just click. He didn't consult me ati nini nini.He just told me wewe uko media team ya youth.Grateful for the opportumities to serve.
