This week I have been setting aside some time in the
evening to attend The Springboard Convention 2016 at CITAM Valley
road.Well,am not a member there,am just a friend..I attend in that
capacity.I must say they are doing a good job.
Let me share something about what I learnt, the theme is #foundpeoplefindpeople. This is basically about reaching out with God's word to the lost.I got to hear a whole new revelation, another perspective of John 4;The story of the Samaritan woman at the well with Jesus.Jesus shared with her about living water, about salvation, amazingly that woman runs to village to get as many people to come also experience that which she experienced. What if we did like her?.I was challenged.Sorry I haven't shared who preached but still she told us,we should make Jesus known, not ourselves. That's Rev. Marie Miller. This was a truth,it doesn't matter if people have never even heard your name but if you shared that which God put in your heart for His people, that is priceless.Tarry in there, today it's 'Neighbours' fellowship' right?
Ever heard people throwing stones at churches at least not literally.Putting 'stickers' on your church,on the other church,on the city church.I have heard people discussing our church, your church.I never join them. How at times we subconsciously buy those ideas and trade them for truth.I knew CITAM through their radio ministry from way back in 2006,I was a teenager, one year in salvation. It has always been one of the best radio stations around, with Christian content.I will always remember the 'band/cue' before the news.It was something like ''There is a fresh beat on the street,it's simply powerful..''.It was/is powerful.I would tune in for praise junction and listen to pastors answer questions based on God's word. How valuable to know there is comfort in God's word,we learnt that yesterday.
Later I used to hear...oh that church is in the 'burbs only, ooh I don't know what.I knew nothing so I kept silent at least I could be considered wise.In 2012 the Christian Union at Kenyatta University had an annual mission, there are always there but this one I purposed to be part of.The famous Kargi mission. They had partnered with CITAM.The mission had three different teams/places;Kargi,Kurkum,Marsabit.I was stationed at Marsabit.
It was amazing sharing God's word with the Borana. It felt home,I don't know how this happens but each of the team loves where they were sent.If you were to send them again they would pick the same region where they were. This was my first mission.I had zero experience but I availed myself to be used by God.I didn't know how stuff went,I was picked to be the one sharing(preaching) in the Sunday service. This is where you really ask God what to share. It wasn't about me,I didn't know what people even expected.I was just given a borana interpreter.Am glad I shared about John 4,about worship. The church I that preached in was CITAM Mataarba,I had never had of that branch before. Then I preached at a revival at CITAM Goro Rukesa.I think you getting my point. Those are remote areas, and I have not gotten to stories of almost getting stuck in mad when it rained. It drove away my ignorance that this is a 'city church'.Its funny that's how we treat people too, because we have shallow information about them.I thanked God for people like pastor Wang'ombe who is the Senior pastor at Mataarba.Did I say too that ya'll pastors wives are amazing.Supporting that pastor whenever he has been sent.Calling that place home!.
The other lesson learned is that we ought to continue doing good, whether it is noticed or not.Yes,imagine nobody may not realize you sacrificed a lot to serve, but God knows,He is quite impressed with you. That you allowed him to use you for His glory. At times it wasn't a big thing,at times it was only that gigantic smile from an usher welcoming you to church that ignited somebody to know there are still people who don't refer to others as dogs.At times it reminds you that God uses whoever he loves and gives them joy.I know of an usher who does 'nduthi' business but when he serves in church he is so jovial and has the genuine heart of service...I know how God has a lot of things in store for his life, yet to come.
